About the brand
Leritz was a Spanish costume jewellery company based in Barcelona, believed to have emerged in the late 1970s and to have operated for roughly two decades. The brand became known for distinctive, high-quality statement jewellery, often combining gold-tone metal, rhinestones, art glass, faux pearls and colourful enamel. Designs could be bold and highly decorative, with an unmistakably glamorous 1980s feel. Leritz appears to have disappeared around the 1990s, as increasing competition and cheaper overseas production put pressure on smaller European costume jewellery manufacturers. Today, signed Leritz pieces are relatively uncommon and are particularly appealing to collectors of 1980s Spanish costume jewellery.
