About the brand
Avon began selling jewellery in the 1970s, making fashionable costume jewellery accessible at an affordable price. Rather than being sold in traditional jewellery shops, Avon pieces were mainly sold through its network of independent representatives.
The jewellery often followed current fashion trends, with designs inspired by fine jewellery, flowers, animals, gemstones and iconic motifs. Many pieces were made in gold- or silver-tone metal and set with imitation stones, pearls and crystals.
Avon collaborated with designers and celebrities over the years, and some collections became particularly sought after by collectors.
Although Avon jewellery was originally inexpensive and mass-produced, well-designed vintage pieces from the 1970s and 1980s are now collectible, especially unusual statement pieces and complete boxed sets.
