About the brand
Ben-Amun was founded in New York by Egyptian-born designer Isaac Manevitz and became particularly known for its bold, sculptural statement jewellery during the 1980s. Inspired by his background in sculpture and Egyptian heritage, Manevitz created striking pieces using gold-plated metal, Lucite, glass, crystal and other unexpected materials. His designs became synonymous with the era’s “wearable art” movement and were worn by fashion icons including Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Kate Moss. The name Ben-Amun combines his son Ben’s name with a nod to Tutankhamun — a fitting reflection of the designer’s love of history and art. The company is still going today.
